CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Man rides tidal bore in New Brunswick
Video shows surfer riding a tidal bore in New Brunswick
There's nothing 'boring' about this video.
A Weather Network viewer recently uploaded a video of a man bravely taking on a phenomenon known as a tidal bore.
Shot on a river in Moncton, N.B. on August 5, the video shows a man steadily riding along with a large wave beneath a sky dotted with clouds.
So, you may be wondering what a tidal bore is.
According to the Bay of Fundy website, this particular wave is a tidal phenomenon in which the leading edge of the incoming tide forms a standing wave of water that travels upstream, against the current of a river or narrow bay. Tidal bores occur twice a day during the flood tide and never during an ebb tide.
A more detailed explanation of what it is can be found in the video below.
