Snowplow named 'Betty Whiteout' pays homage to legendary actor
We think Betty would appreciate the friendly nod.
The results are in - and one of Minnesota's newest snowplows will be named 'Betty Whiteout' - a nod to Betty White, the beloved actor and comedian who passed away on New Year's Eve, two weeks before her 100th birthday.
A few weeks ago, the Minnesota Department of Transportation asked residents to cast their votes for the names of eight new snowplows that have joined the fleet.
Betty Whiteout was one of them, and the plow will clear city roads alongside seven others plows, named Ctrl Salt Delete, The Big Leplowski, Plowasaurus Rex, Scoop Dogg, Blizzard of Oz, No More Mr. Ice Guy, and Edward Blizzardhands.
Fans suggested 22,000 nicknames, officials say, which was narrowed down to 50 finalists. About 60,000 online votes were cast, UPI reports.
