Ontario resident Laurie Landry never expected to be staying in an evacuation centre in Nova Scotia when she came to visit her son from Manitoulin Island.

Landry, who last visited her son in Nova Scotia during Hurricane Fiona, is now spending the night in a Red Cross shelter with him after a wildfire spread rapidly around her son's home in Hammonds Plains and forced them both to evacuate.

Laurie Landry shares her story with The Weather Network in the video above.
