Emergency water ban issued for Bonavista due to ice
An emergency water ban has been issued for the town of Bonavista due to an ice formation blocking the Long Pond water intake.
In a social media post, the town said no new water is entering the water supply.
Ice has formed on the bottom of the pond and attached to its underwater structures, blocking the flow of water into the system. Once the current water tank is depleted, no water will be available.

Residents are asked to immediately stop all non-essential water use and conserve every drop possible. Laundry, dishwashing, and long showers should be avoided. Flushing should be limited and taps should be turned off tightly.
The emergency water ban will remain in effect until further notice.
