Fugitive surrenders, says he's sick of living on the beach

Guess the sun's not for everyone.

A man claiming to have fled an Austrian prison more than 10 years ago has turned himself into police.

He told authorities he was sick of living on the beach, the Associated Press reports.

The 64-year-old man had been living on Tenerife, a popular tourist destination in the Canary Islands.

He told officers he wanted to go back to jail because "Tenerife is not as nice as it used to be and he had lived there long enough."

Police verified the man was a fugitive and took him to a Salzberg jail.
