Special Weather Statement

Issued at Fri 11:13 PM Apr. 3
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Snow, ice pellets, freezing rain, rain, and gusty winds are expected later this weekend

Locations: Channel–Port aux Basques and vicinity.

Snow and ice pellet amounts (Sunday afternoon and evening): 5 to 10 cm.

Rainfall (later Sunday night): 15 to 25 mm.

Maximum wind gusts (Sunday evening): southeasterly 70 km/h, except 110 km/h in the Wreckhouse area.

Remarks: Snow is forecast to begin Easter Sunday afternoon and will then transition through a period of ice pellets and freezing rain Sunday evening, before changing to rain as temperatures rise above zero by midnight. The rain may be heavy at times overnight before tapering off by Monday morning.

A period of strong southeasterly winds will also accompany the wintry mix.

Snow, ice, and strong winds may make travel slow or hazardous. Rain and melting snow can result in pooling of water. Roads and walkways may become slippery and difficult to navigate. Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid the most adverse conditions.
