Recommended Action
A Flood Watch means water levels above flood stage are possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Persons along rivers and streams in the watch area should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding develop. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. Description

The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Illinoi
S: Indiana Des Plaines River near Gurnee affecting Lake IL County. Kankakee River at Dunns Bridge affecting Jasper and Porter Counties. Des Plaines River near Russell affecting Lake IL County.
: The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana Kankakee River at Shelby affecting Lake IN and Newton Counties.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Des Plaines River from US-41 in Gurnee downstream to Townline Road in Vernon Hills, including the Gurnee gauge.
When: Until Thursday afternoon.
Impacts: At 7.0 feet, Forest land inundated near the river in Gurnee.
Additional Details: - At 8:30 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 7.5 feet. - Recent ActivityThe maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 AM CDT Sunday was 7.5 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 8.0 feet Monday evening. It will then fall below flood stage late Thursday morning. - Flood stage is 7.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
