Description

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 103 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN WISCONSIN THIS WATCH INCLUDES 8 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL WISCONSIN MARATHON PORTAGE WAUSHARA WOOD IN EAST CENTRAL WISCONSIN CALUMET WINNEBAGO IN NORTHEAST WISCONSIN OUTAGAMIE WAUPACA THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF APPLETON, ARNOTT, AURORAVILLE, BAKERVILLE, BORTH, CLINTONVILLE, DARBOY, DUNDAS, KING, LIND CENTER, MACKVILLE, MARSHFIELD, MENASHA, NEENAH, NEW LONDON, NORTHERN LAKE WINNEBAGO, NORTHPORT, OSHKOSH, PLOVER, RURAL, SILVER LAKE, STEVENS POINT, WAUPACA, WAUSAU, WAUTOMA, WINNEBAGO, WISCONSIN RAPIDS, AND WITTMAN FIELD.

Flood Watch

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
Where: Portions of central, east central, north central, and northeast Wisconsin, including the following areas, in central Wisconsin, Marathon, Portage, Waushara and Wood. In east central Wisconsin, Calumet, Manitowoc and Winnebago. In north central Wisconsin, Langlade and Lincoln. In northeast Wisconsin, Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Menominee, Northern Marinette County, Northern Oconto County, Outagamie, Shawano, Southern Marinette County, Southern Oconto County and Waupaca.
When: Through Tuesday morning.
Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Extensive street flooding will also be possible.
Additional Details: - Soils are saturated due to recent rainfall and rain across the area this afternoon. Multiple rounds of thunderstorms continue to develop across the watch area through this evening, and will likely produce widespread additional rainfall amounts of 1 to locally 2 inches, with locally higher amounts. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Description

At 551 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles south of Spencer, or 29 miles northwest of Wisconsin Rapids, moving east at 20 mph.
Hazard: Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe thunderstorm will be near Spencer around 555 PM CDT. Marshfield around 600 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by the severe thunderstorm include Bakerville, Nasonville, Hewitt, Stratford, Auburndale, Rozellville, Halder and Big Eau Pleine County Park.

Recommended Action

Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT Monday for a portion of central Wisconsin.
