Flood Advisory
What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
Where: Portions of east central and southeast Virginia, including the following counties and independent city, in east central Virginia, Charles City, King and Queen and New Kent. In southeast Virginia, City of Williamsburg, Gloucester, James City and York.
When: Until 1100 PM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 846 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated moderate to occasionally heavy rain still ongoing. While rain rates have decreased, minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. The threat for flooding will persist for the next couple of hours. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Williamsburg, Charles City, Gloucester Courthouse, Toano, Norge, College Of William And Mary, Queens Lake, Gloucester Point, Barhamsville, Holdcroft, Kings Point, York Terrace, Rustic, Carver Gardens, Ruthville, Glenns, Wicomico, Adkins Store, Croaker and Lightfoot. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.
