What: For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as zero expected. For the High Wind Warning, north winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 5 below possible.
Where: Northampton and Accomack Counties.
When: For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 1 AM Saturday to 1 AM EST Sunday. For the High Wind Warning, from 7 PM Saturday to 4 PM EST Sunday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from late Saturday night through Sunday morning.
Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. The cold wind chills as low as 5 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive. Where: In North Carolina, Eastern Currituck County. In Virginia, Norfolk/Portsmouth and Northampton Counties, and Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.
When: From late Saturday night through Sunday afternoon.
Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure may be inundated. Some shoreline erosion may occur.
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
