What: One to three feet of inundation above ground level possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
Where: In North Carolina, Eastern Currituck County. In Virginia, Norfolk/Portsmouth and Northampton Counties, and Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.
When: From late Saturday night through Sunday afternoon.
Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure may be inundated. Some shoreline erosion may occur.

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. A Coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be alert for later statements or warnings...and take action to protect property.

What: For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as zero expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 5 below possible.
Where: Portions of northeast North Carolina and eastern and southeast Virginia.
When: For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 1 AM Saturday to 1 AM EST Sunday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from late Saturday night through Sunday morning.
Impacts: Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
