The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 198 in effect until 5 AM CDT Monday for the following areas In Texas this watch includes 15 counties In south central Texas Jackson In southeast Texas Austin Brazoria Brazos Burleson Colorado Fort Bend Galveston Grimes Harris Matagorda Montgomery Waller Washington Wharton This includes the cities of Alvin, Angleton, Bay City, Bellville, Brenham, Brookshire, Bryan, Caldwell, Clute, College Station, Columbus, Conroe, Dickinson, Eagle Lake, Edna, El Campo, First Colony, Freeport, Friendswood, Galveston, Ganado, Hempstead, Houston, Lake Jackson, League City, Mission Bend, Missouri City, Navasota, Palacios, Pearland, Pecan Grove, Prairie View, Rosenberg, Sealy, Somerville, Sugar Land, Texas City, The Woodlands, Waller, Weimar, and Wharton.

Flood Advisory

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: A portion of southeast Texas, including the following counties, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Montgomery, Walker and Washington.
When: Until 1230 AM CDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Additional Details: - At 919 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Southeastern College Station, Navasota, Montgomery, Millican, Anderson, Roans Prairie, Richards, Carlos, Dacus and Wellborn. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
