Extreme Cold Warning

Description

What: For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 9 above expected. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 1 below expected.
Where: In North Carolina, Bladen, Columbus, Inland Pender, and Robeson Counties. In South Carolina, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Marion, Marlboro, and Northern Horry Counties.
When: For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 1 AM to 6 PM EST Saturday. For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 6 PM Saturday to 10 AM EST Sunday.
Impacts: The dangerously cold wind chills as low as zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.

Recommended Action

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
