Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Portions of north central and northeast Ohio, including the following counties, in north central Ohio, Ashland, Knox, Morrow and Richland. In northeast Ohio, Holmes and Wayne.
When: Until noon EDT.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring.
Additional Details: - At 600 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate heavy rain has fallen across the warned area. Flooding is ongoing. Between 2.5 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected this morning. Thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Mansfield, Mount Gilead, Lexington, Loudonville, Fredericktown, Bellville, Shreve, Glenmont, Mount Eaton, Chesterville, Nashville, Waterford, Apple Creek, Butler, Perrysville, Lucas, Fredericksburg, Gann, North Liberty and Mohicanville. - Flooding is ongoing on the Black Fork of the Mohican River near Loudonville and the Clear Fork of Mohican River near Bellville. The Whetstone Creek is also flooding near Mount Gilead. - Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
