Coastal Flood Warning
What: For the Coastal Flood Warning, 2 to 4 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet expected in the surf zone.
Where: East Carteret County.
When: For the Coastal Flood Warning, until 1 PM EST Sunday. For the High Surf Advisory, from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Sunday.
Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated. Some shoreline erosion will occur.
Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
High Wind Warning
What: For the High Wind Warning, north winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10 below expected.
Where: East Carteret County.
When: For the High Wind Warning, until 1 PM EST Sunday. For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 7 PM this evening to 10 AM EST Monday.
Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
