Extreme Cold Warning

Description

What: For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 6 above expected. For the Wind Advisory, north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 2 below expected.
Where: Mainland Hyde, Pamlico, Southern Craven, and Washington Counties.
When: For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 11 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Saturday. For the Wind Advisory, from 4 PM Saturday to 1 PM EST Sunday. For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 7 PM Saturday to 10 AM EST Monday.
Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Recommended Action

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

Coastal Flood Advisory

Description

What: For the Coastal Flood Advisory, 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
Where: Areas along the Pamlico Sound, Trent, Bay and lower Neuse Rivers, and adjacent tidal creeks.
When: From noon Saturday to 1 PM EST Sunday.
Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Recommended Action

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
