Winter Weather Advisory
What: Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent lake snows across the higher terrain of the Tug Hill and western Adirondack foothills, with much lower amounts falling across the lower elevations. This will be a long-duration event with two main rounds of snow. The first round will be this afternoon and evening. A break in the snows will then follow overnight, before the lake snows redevelop Monday morning and persist into Monday night. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will also produce blowing and drifting snow.
Where: The Eastern Lake Ontario Region, mainly across the higher terrain of the Tug Hill and western Adirondack foothills.
When: From 1 PM this afternoon to 7 AM EST Tuesday.
Impacts: Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities. Submit snow reports through our website or social media.
