The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Bronx County in southeastern New York Kings (Brooklyn) County in southeastern New York Nassau County in southeastern New York Queens County in southeastern New York Until 815 PM EDT. At 613 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Jamaica, Flushing, Levittown, East Tremont, Freeport, Valley Stream, Long Beach, Glen Cove, Plainview, Garden City, Massapequa, Lynbrook, Syosset, Mineola, Woodmere, Westbury, Rockaway Beach, Great Neck, Farmingdale and Oyster Bay.

When: Until 2 AM EDT Friday.
Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
Additional Details: - A period of heavy rainfall is possible as showers and a few thunderstorms move through the area late this afternoon and evening. Peak hourly rainfall rates could reach 2 to 2.5 inches.
