Recommended Action
Persons should consider delaying all travel from Sunday into Monday. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.

Description

What: Very cold wind chills around 5 below expected.
Where: Portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.
When: From 10 PM Friday to 10 AM EST Saturday.
Impacts: Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures for any prolonged period of time.

Recommended Action

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
