Recommended Action

Drink plenty of fluids even if you don't feel thirsty, but avoidalcohol and caffeine. Stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out ofthe sun, and check up on elderly and vulnerable relatives andneighbors.Look before you lock! Do not leave young children and pets inunattended vehicles for even a moment. Car interiors will veryquickly reach lethal temperatures.Bring pets indoors or ensure that they have shade and cool water todrink.

* WHAT...In the Davis, Guadalupe, Chinati, and Delaware Mountains,as well as Chisos Basin, temperatures up to 99 expected. On theMarfa Plateau, and in the Davis Mountain Foothills and CentralBrewster County, temperatures up to 104 expected. On theCulberson and Eddy County Plains, as well as Pecos and WinklerCounties, temperatures up to 109 expected. On the Reeves CountyPlains, and in Loving and Ward Counties, the Presidio Valley, andLower Brewster County, temperatures up to 114 expected.* WHERE...Portions of southeast New Mexico and southwest and westernTexas.* WHEN...Until 8 PM MDT /9 PM CDT/ Monday.* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. The elderly,very young, sick, and people with heart conditions are most atrisk in extreme heat.
