The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued a code orange air quality alert Thursday for Atlantic and Cape May Counties in New Jersey. A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Rip Current Statement
What: Dangerous rip currents.
Where: Atlantic Coastal Cape May and Coastal Atlantic.
When: Until 8 PM EDT this evening.
Impacts: Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
Always obey posted Beach Flags. If you enter the surf zone, always have a floatation device with you and swim near a lifeguard if possible. If caught in a rip current, relax and float and do not swim against the current. If able, swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
