Description

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southeastern Greene County in southwestern Missouri Until 600 AM CDT. At 206 AM CDT, Emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. Numerous reports of water rescues and stranded vehicles.
Hazard: Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
Source: Emergency management reported.
Impact: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Springfield, Republic, Battlefield, Brookline and Galloway. This includes the following low water crossing
S: Wilson Creek at Farm Road 146, Wilson's Creek at Farm Road 150 and Wilson Creek at Farm Road 156.

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
Where: Portions of southeast Kansas, including the following areas, Bourbon, Cherokee and Crawford and Missouri, including the following areas, Barry, Barton, Benton, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, St. Clair, Stone and Vernon.
When: Through Sunday morning.
Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.

Recommended Action

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
