Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Description

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northeastern Miller County in central Missouri Until 545 PM CDT. At 506 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Hickory Hill, or near Eldon, and is nearly stationary.
Hazard: Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Olean, Marys Home, and Etterville.

Recommended Action

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: A portion of central Missouri, including the following counties, Maries and Miller.
When: Until 600 AM CDT Friday.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
Additional Details: - At 519 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated that heavy rain due to thunderstorms fell across the headwaters of Tavern Creek and tributaries. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly along Tavern Creek this evening into tonight from the earlier heavy rainfall in the warned area. Up to 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Iberia and St. Elizabeth. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Description

At 504 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated that the thunderstorms that produced heavy rain across the warned area have moved out of the area. Runoff from the heavy rainfall this afternoon will still continue into this evening. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Iberia.
