Description

What: Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
Where: Portions of southwest Illinois, including the following area, Randolph IL and Missouri, including the following areas, Crawford MO, Iron MO, Madison MO, Reynolds MO, Saint Francois MO, Sainte Genevieve MO and Washington MO.
When: Through Saturday morning.
Impacts: Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.
Additional Details: - Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected in and near the watch area this afternoon through tonight. - Locations in southeast Missouri, including southern Crawford, Reynolds, Iron, and Madison Counties, will be especially susceptible with several inches of rain already received since Thursday evening.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015
Am Cdt This Morning For Iron And Northeastern Reynolds Counties: At 544 AM CDT, Local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 6 and 11 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Numerous locations in northwest and southern Iron County, and northeast Reynolds County. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!
Hazard: Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

Impact: This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Viburnum, Annapolis, Glover, Oates, Bixby, Lesterville, Black, Hogan, Chloride and Sabula. This includes the following State Park
S: Johnsons Shut-Ins State Park and Taum Sauk Mountain State Park.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
