Winter Weather Advisory

Issued at Thu 10:25 PM Dec. 25
Issued by: National Weather Service
Description

What: Freezing rain expected. Mixed precipitation will also be possible. Total ice accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch with locally higher amounts possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch.
Where: All of Southeast Michigan.
When: From 5 AM to 4 PM EST Friday.
Impacts: Plan on icy road and surface conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday morning commute and holiday travel.
Additional Details: A mix of sleet and snow is more likely toward the Tri Cities and northern Thumb. More of a pure freezing rain scenario is favored for the I-69 to M-59 corridors which also has the best chance of higher end icing totals. Locations toward metro Detroit and the Ohio border have the best chance of temperature rising above freezing by afternoon.

Recommended Action

Be prepared for hazardous travel. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
