Recommended Action
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Description

What: Potential Flash Flooding caused by high flows from the Bellaire Dam.
Where: A portion of Northern Lower Michigan, including the following county, Antrim.
When: Through Thursday morning.
Impacts: Increased flows from the Bellaire Dam may result in flash flooding of low-lying areas below the dam. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. Dam safety experts with state and local emergency services are monitoring the dam and will issue a public statement as conditions warrant. PLAN NOW so you will know what to do in an emergency. Keep informed by listening to local radio and television for statements and possible warnings. Follow the advice of public safety officials.
