The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northeastern St. Joseph County in north central Indiana Central Cass County in southwestern Michigan Northwestern St. Joseph County in southwestern Michigan Until 715 PM EDT. At 631 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Granger, moving northeast at 50 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts.

Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Mishawaka, Granger, Cassopolis, Edwardsburg, Marcellus, Penn, Vandalia, Dailey, La Grange, Paradise Lake, Calvin Center, Adamsville, Juno Lake, Donnell Lake, Diamond Lake, Howardsville, Wakelee, and Eagle Lake. This includes Interstate 80 in Indiana between mile markers 81 and 86.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for north central Indiana...and southwestern Michigan.

JOSEPH MI THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BENTON HARBOR, BENTON HEIGHTS, BUCHANAN, CASSOPOLIS, DOWAGIAC, EDWARDSBURG, ELKHART, FAIR PLAIN, GOSHEN, GRANGER, LA PORTE, MARCELLUS, MENDON, MICHIGAN CITY, MISHAWAKA, NAPPANEE, NILES, PAW PAW LAKE, SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH, STURGIS, THREE RIVERS, AND WHITE PIGEON.

What: South winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
Where: Portions of northern Indiana and southwest Michigan.
When: Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ this evening.
Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
