Coastal Flood Advisory

Description

What: One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (10.8 to 12.7 feet Mean Lower Low Water).
Where: Eastern Essex MA, Suffolk MA, Eastern Norfolk MA and Eastern Plymouth MA Counties.
When: From 8 AM Sunday to 2 PM EST Monday.
Impacts: Shallow pockets of flooding less than one foot deep affects the lowest lying areas along the coast, including Morrissey Boulevard in Boston. Most roads remain passable. Flooding up to one foot deep affects coastal roads on the North Shore from Salem to Gloucester and Newburyport. Rough surf will cause flooding on some coastal roads around the time of high tide due to splashover.

Recommended Action

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

Cold Weather Advisory

Description

What: Very cold wind chills as low as 19 below.
Where: Portions of northern Connecticut, central, eastern, northeastern, southeastern, and western Massachusetts, and northern Rhode Island.
When: Until 10 AM EST Saturday.
Impacts: The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Recommended Action

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
