Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which arepotentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross floodedroads. Find an alternate route.

Description

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfallcontinues.* WHERE...Portions of Louisiana, including the following parishes,Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu and Vernon and southeast Texas,including the following counties, Hardin, Jasper, Newton and Tyler.* WHEN...Until 730 PM CDT Monday.* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lyingand flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streamscontinue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not bepassable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 121 PM CDT, the public reported flooding in the warnedarea. Flooding is already occurring. Between 3 and 10 inchesof rain have fallen.- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall isexpected.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Lumberton, De Ridder, Jasper, Leesville, Silsbee, Woodville,Newton, Kirbyville, Kountze, Rosepine, Merryville, Reeves,Bon Weir, Call, Fields, Burkeville, Singer, Buna, De Quincyand Town Bluff.- http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
