Flood Advisory
What: Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Portions of northeast Kansas, including the following counties, Leavenworth and Wyandotte and west central Missouri, including the following counties, Clay and Platte.
When: Until 700 AM CDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 401 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Kansas City, Leavenworth, Liberty, Gladstone, Lansing, Bonner Springs, Parkville, Tonganoxie, Basehor, North Kansas City, Sugar Creek, Riverside, Weatherby Lake, Claycomo, Kansas City Intl Arpt, Pleasant Valley, Lake Waukomis, Glenaire and Avondale. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
