What: Lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches, with localized totals up to 5 inches, north of U.S. Route 30.
Where: Lake IN County.
When: Until 6 PM CST this evening.
Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.
Additional Details: A main lake effect snow band is expected to move over the area prior to sunrise, then settle along the Illinois shore and into northern Lake County through the day. Though the intensity of snow will gradually diminish through the day, snowfall rates this morning could surpass 1 inch per hour.
During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from near white out conditions in very heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away.
