Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Portions of Indiana, including the following counties, Elkhart, La Porte, St. Joseph and Starke and southwest Michigan, including the following counties, Berrien, Cass MI and St. Joseph MI.
When: Until 1000 AM EDT /900 AM CDT/.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 607 AM EDT /507 AM CDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include South Bend, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Michigan City, La Porte, Niles, Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, Three Rivers, Dowagiac, Westville, Buchanan, Georgetown, Trail Creek, Granger, Gulivoire Park, Fair Plain, Simonton Lake, Benton Heights and Osceola. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
