Description

At 643 PM EDT/543 PM CDT/, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Marcellus to near Mishawaka to near Culver. Movement was east at 40 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include South Bend, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Goshen, Plymouth, Three Rivers, Nappanee, Dowagiac, Bremen, Gulivoire Park, Granger, Dunlap, Simonton Lake, Middlebury, Osceola, Constantine, Bourbon, Cassopolis, Wakarusa, and Argos. This includes Interstate 80 in Indiana between mile markers 77 and 108.

Recommended Action

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT/1000 PM CDT/ for north central and northwestern Indiana...and southwestern Michigan.

Heat Advisory

Description

What: Heat index values up to 99.
Where: Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio.
When: Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ this evening.
Impacts: Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Recommended Action

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Description

The storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severe limits, and no longer pose an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However, gusty winds are still possible with these thunderstorms. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for north central Indianaand southwestern Michigan.
