Recommended Action
A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. Description

What: Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
Where: Portions of northern and central Illinois and northwest Indiana.
When: From 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ this evening through Saturday morning.
Impacts: Roads and streets may be flooded. Area creeks and streams are already elevated, increasing the risk of flooding due to additional rainfall.
Additional Details: - Recent rounds of heavy rainfall have left soils saturated and stream and creek levels elevated across the area. Additional rounds of heavy rainfall this evening and overnight may lead to rapid run-off and an increased threat of flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation. Persons with interests along area rivers, creeks, and other waterways should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Illinoi
S: Illinois River at La Salle affecting Bureau, La Salle and Putnam Counties. For the Illinois River (Upper)including La SalleMinor flooding is forecast.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Illinois River from Starved Rock Lock and Dam downstream to confluence with Big Bureau Creek, including the La Salle gauge.
When: Until further notice.
Additional Details: - At 9:45 PM CDT Friday the stage was 20.3 feet. - Recent ActivityThe maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:45 PM CDT Friday was 20.3 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 25.0 feet Sunday evening.
