Description

The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Adams County in west central Illinoi
S: Northwestern Pike County in west central Illinoi
S: Central Marion County in northeastern Missouri Northern Ralls County in northeastern Missouri Until 945 PM CDT. At 452 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Quincy, Hannibal, Palmyra, Monroe City, Quincy Regional Airport, Camp Point, Payson, New London, Clayton, Golden, Fall Creek, Center, Beverly, Rensselaer, Spaulding, Adams, Kingston, Burton, Liberty and Hull. This includes the following highway
S: Interstate 72 between exits 4 and 10. Interstate 172 between exits 2 and 19.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Description

The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Illinoi
S: Illinois River at Valley City. River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast precipitation for the next 24 hours.
What: Minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Illinois River at Valley City.
When: From Thursday morning until further notice.
Impacts: At 14.0 feet, The road to Norbut Fish and Wildlife area is flooded.
Additional Details: - At 3:00 PM CDT Monday the stage was 13.7 feet. - ForecastThe river will fall to 13.4 feet this evening. It will then rise to 13.9 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will fall to 13.7 feet Wednesday evening. It will then rise above flood stage late Thursday morning to 14.5 feet Saturday evening. It will fall again but remain above flood stage. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

Recommended Action

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even higher than predicted. The National Weather Service will monitor this developing situation and issue follow up statements as conditions change. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday afternoon. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet.

Tornado Warning

Description

At 511 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Pittsfield, moving northeast at 60 mph. Another storm capable of producing a tornado was located near Bowling Green moving northeast.
Hazard: Tornado and quarter size hail.
Source: Radar indicated rotation.
Impact: Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. Locations impacted include Louisiana, Pike, Clarksville, Atlas, Pleasant Hill, El Dara, Martinsburg, Nebo, Independence, Pittsfield, Time, Pearl, Milton, Detroit, Griggsville, Bedford, Montezuma, Florence and Valley City. This includes Interstate 72 between exits 31 and 35.
