The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Illinoi
S: Indiana Thorn Creek at Thornton affecting Cook County. Little Calumet River at Munster (Hohman Avenue) affecting Cook and Lake IN Counties. For the Thorn Creekincluding ThorntonMinor flooding is forecast.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Thorn Creek from Near Glenwood downstream to confluence with Little Calumet River, including the Thornton gauge.
When: Until Tuesday morning.
Impacts: At 11.0 feet, 187th Street threatened in Glenwood.
Additional Details: - At 8:00 PM CDT Monday the stage was 10.9 feet. - Recent ActivityThe maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:00 PM CDT Monday was 11.6 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to fall below flood stage around sunrise Tuesday and continue falling through the day. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or may already be occurring. What: High wave action and dangerous currents expected at Lake Michigan beaches. Waves 3 to 6 feet expected.
Where: Lake IL and Northern Cook Counties.
When: Until 4 AM CDT Tuesday.
Impacts: Swimming conditions will be life threatening, especially for inexperienced swimmers.
Remain out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions and do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other shoreline structures.
