Recommended Action

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly.

Description

What: For the Freeze Warning Glades and hendry counties, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 expected. For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills in the lower 30s.
Where: Glades and Hendry Counties.
When: From 3 AM to 9 AM EST Friday.
Impacts: Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
