If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: A portion of southwest California, including the following counties, Much of Central Los Angeles and Extreme Eastern Ventura.
When: Until 1000 AM PDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rock and mud slides possible.
Additional Details: - At 538 AM PDT, Doppler radar indicated moderate to briefly heavy showers overspreading the advisory area. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area, continuing through the mid-morning hours. Rock and mud slides will be possible. - A minor debris flow over the burn scars cannot be ruled out. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Malibu, North Hollywood, Van Nuys, Universal City, Burbank, Encino, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Griffith Park, Northridge, Santa Monica, Culver City, Chatsworth, Woodland Hills, Downtown Los Angeles, Venice and Santa Clarita. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
