Extreme Cold Warning
Issued at Wed 10:39 AM Feb. 28
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Recommended Action

Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

Overnight lows of minus 30 to minus 35 combined with 10 to 15 km/h winds will produce extreme wind chill values of minus 40 and colder on Wednesday morning.

Wind chills are expected to moderate by Wednesday afternoon.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.

Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
