Issued at Tue 4:40 AM Jul. 28
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

What:
Rainfall amounts of 50 millimetres or more locally.
Gusts of up to 90 kilometres per hour

When:
Today until this evening

Additional information:
A trough is currently causing showers and thunderstorms in these areas. Some of these thunderstorms may cause heavy rain locally. Thunderstorms will become more frequent this afternoon and could become violent and give significant amounts of rain and strong wind gusts locally.

###

Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible. Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure.

Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to QCstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on social media using #QCStorm.

Recommended Action

When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Don't drive through flooded roadways.
