Description

Winter storm on tap.

What: An accumulation of 15 to 25 centimetres of snow followed by ice pellets and freezing rain.

When: Late tonight to Friday night.

Where: Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Charlevoix and Bas-Saint-Laurent.

Additional information:
The precipitation will begin as snow and gradually change to ice pellets or freezing rain. An amount of 5 millimetres of freezing rain is possible. Moderate to strong winds will produce blowing snow locally, especially in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.

A second low pressure system will give significant snowfall amounts over these areas on Sunday. This system may also produce a mixed bag of precipitation, which could include a period of freezing rain.

Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
