Special Weather Statement
Issued at Mon 5:13 AM Feb. 26
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada

A broad low pressure system will affect the province of Quebec this week bringing unseasonably mild temperatures, rain, and a rapid drop in temperatures.

At first, the weather will be mild and rainy for Tuesday and Wednesday. This will give favourable conditions for the rapid melting of the existing snow cover. Water ponding may be significant in some places.

A vigorous cold front will then move through Western, Southern and Central Quebec between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. As it passes, rain will change to snow, and strong westerly winds will develop.

Finally, temperatures will drop sharply, rapidly freezing water on the ground. Roads could quickly become slippery, making travel difficult.
