Special Weather Statement

Issued at Tue 10:30 AM Mar. 31
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Significant ice pellets, snowfall and freezing rain are possible tonight and Wednesday.

Locations: Prince Edward Island.

Timing: intensifying overnight, and continuing Wednesday.

Remarks: Forecast guidance indicates a variety of wintry precipitation will likely affect much of the Island tonight before tapering off Wednesday afternoon. The potential exists for significant amounts of ice pellets, and a risk of freezing rain in addition to heavy snow in some areas.

Up to 2 cm of ice pellet accumulation is possible. Snowfall could reach near 10 cm in northern Prince County.

Rapidly accumulating ice pellets and snow may create hazardous travel conditions. Even small amounts of freezing rain on untreated surfaces can make travel difficult. Utility outages are possible.
