Yellow Watch - Winter Storm
A late season winter storm is poised to impact far northern Ontario.
What:
Snow and ice pellets with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm.
Risk of freezing rain.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow.
When:
Thursday overnight into Saturday morning.
Discussion:
A low pressure system will bring snow, ice pellets and potential freezing rain to far northern Ontario starting Thursday night from Pickle Lake, then spreading eastwards to James Bay by Friday evening. There is some uncertainty with this system as to whether or not the freezing rain will be patchy in nature, or a more organized area of freezing rain.
###
Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate. Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
