Yellow Advisory - Blowing Snow
Snow and strong winds will lead to poor visibility in blowing snow.
Locations: northeastern, eastern, and southern Newfoundland.
Total snowfall: 2 to 5 cm, except potentially up to 10 cm over the Burgeo Highway.
Maximum wind gusts: northwesterly to southwesterly 100 to 110 km/h, except 130 along parts of the coast.
Time span: this afternoon or evening until early Tuesday morning.
Remarks: Conditions are expected to deteriorate as strengthening winds combine with snow and falling temperatures to cause widespread blowing snow this afternoon and tonight.
Travel will likely be hazardous due to near-zero visibility in blowing snow, while falling temperatures will result in the freezing of standing water from snowmelt or rainfall. Roads and walkways will likely be hazardous due to increasingly icy conditions and poor visibility.
