Description


Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Maximum wind gusts: 80 to 100 km/h, except 120 to 130 along parts of the coast.

Locations: most of Newfoundland.

Time span: late this evening until near noon Friday.

Similar storms in the past have caused:
- hazardous driving conditions
- disruptions to ferry services

Remarks: Wind gusts will be strongest in areas exposed to the southeast.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
