Special Weather Statement
Snowfall amounts potentially reaching 15 cm in 12 hours expected Wednesday.
Locations: southern Newfoundland from Port aux Basques to the Avalon Peninsula, including Clarenville and vicinity.
Total Snowfall: 10 to 15 cm, higher amounts possible.
Time span:
Overnight tonight to Wednesday afternoon in the southwest.
Wednesday morning to Wednesday evening in the southeast.
Remarks: A low pressure system will pass south of Newfoundland tonight and Wednesday. Snow will begin in the southwest overnight tonight and spread eastwards by Wednesday morning. Previous forecast agreement on this system was poor making projected snowfall totals uncertain at this time. Additionally, southern sections of the Burin and Avalon Peninsulas will begin to mix with ice pellets during the day on Wednesday, which can sometimes lead to less snowfall accumulation.
Snowfall warnings may be required for some areas.
