Yellow Watch - Winter Storm
A significant winter storm is expected.
Locations: the Great Northern Peninsula, including Gros Morne.
Potential snowfall: 15 to 35 cm.
Potential wind gusts: (Monday) east to northeasterly 90 to 100 km/h, with potentially higher gusts in areas prone to enhanced easterlies in the vicinities of Trout River Bay, Bonne Bay, Western Brook Pond, St. Paul's Bay, Parson's Pond River, and St. John Bay.
Potential wind gusts: (Monday night) north to northwesterly 90 to 120 km/h.
Time span: overnight Sunday night until early Tuesday morning.
Remarks: Meteorologists are monitoring a weather system which appears likely to bring significant snowfall and strong winds. The snow may mix with or change to ice pellets over some areas. The combination of snow and strong winds is likely to result in blizzard-like conditions with poor visibility.
Consider modifying any travel plans; if travel is necessary, allow extra time to reach your destination.
