Special Weather Statement
Wintry weather is expected this weekend.
Locations: western, central, and northeastern Newfoundland.
Additional snowfall (today): up to 5 cm.
Snowfall (Sunday afternoon into Sunday night): near 15 cm, with higher amounts possible over elevated terrain.
Remarks: Snowfall associated with a weather system passing south of Newfoundland will taper off later this morning or this afternoon.
A second system, affecting the region Easter Sunday afternoon through Sunday night, will bring a more significant round of snow, followed by a brief period of ice pellets and freezing rain. Precipitation will then change to rain showers as temperatures rise.
Snow accumulation may make travel slow or hazardous. Roads and walkways could become slippery and difficult to navigate. Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid the most adverse conditions.
