Orange Warning - Winter Storm

Description

A significant winter storm with heavy snow, strong winds and blowing snow is expected.

Locations: Norman Bay to Lodge Bay and Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair.

Total snowfall: generally 30 to 40 cm.

Maximum wind gusts: north to northeasterly 100 to 110 km/h.

Time span: Monday morning until overnight Monday night.

Remarks: Snow, at times heavy, combined with strong winds will reduce visibility making road and travel conditions treacherous. Snowfall rates of 2 to 5 cm per hour are possible. The strongest winds are expected Monday afternoon and Monday night.

Travel will likely be hazardous. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Road closures are possible.
